Easy wins:
Enter the quick race menu. Set the strength for the other cars to 80%. Set your car's settings to no damage, no yellow flags, and no player breakdowns. This will may be done for season races as well as quick races.

Faster pace car:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Enter the game directory and find the file that corresponds to a track, such as "/nascar2/tracks/bristol/bristol.txt". You can edit the speed of the pace car by locating the line that begis with "PACEA". Change the last two numbers in the speed (it can have more than two digits) that you want to be the pace speed. Because the pace car is slow at accelerating, it will most likely not reach anything extreme but it still exceeds its normal speeds by far.

Gain laps:
Note: Disable car damage in the game options. Intentionally crash into another car to get a yellow flag. Remain at full speed and pass as many cars as possible, and ignore the yellow flag warnings. Pull into the pits when the black flag appears for passing under the yellow. Your car should retain its lead after coming out of the pits.

No caution laps:
Press [Esc] to quit the race when the yellow caution flag is out. Answer "Yes" to save the game. Re-load the game and resume the race. The flag will be green after one lap. Note: This will not work during the pace lap.

Vortex damage:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "options.txt" file in the game folder. Change the "vortex damage no" entry to "vortex damage yes". Note: Tracks will take longer to load when this option is enabled.

High speed pit road:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the appropriate tracks file in the "tracks" folder in the game directory. Locate the "Race Control" heading, then find the "speed_limit_MPH =" line. Change its value to the speed that you want to legally go down pit road. Note: If you set the limit above 70, the spotter will still only say 70 as you approach pit road. Ignore this and go as fast as you set it to.

Hint: Competitive races:

LAPS: How many laps are in a full length race.

QUAL: How many qualifying laps there are. Do not change the first number. There should be two. The first number is only a place-holder.

BLAP: The average qualifying time for the computer cars, x 1000. For example, if the time is 23.456 seconds, it will appear here as 23456. Find your average qualification time and enter this here to qualify near the middle of the pack.

RELS: Same as opposition strength. If you have both RELS and OPPS at 97%, the cars would travel at 97% of 97% (or 94%) at that track.

Extra speed:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "enginerestricted.cfg" file in the "\gamedata\vehicles\" folder. You will see a list of numbers similar to:

RPMTorque= (500, -30, 35)
RPMTorque= (550, -36, 42)

Thunder Plates:
Select the Thunder Challenge or Lightning Challenge at the game mode screen. Complete the various challenges to get new Thunder Plates. Note: The Plates are awarded randomly from game to game -- winning a certain track with a particular driver will not unlock the same Plate between games.

Night tracks and alternate tracks:
Race at the desired track in quick race mode under the veteran difficulty setting. Win the race to unlock a night or alternate version of it.
