Level select:
Enter X-X!V''Q as a name. Note: There are two apostrophe characters in this name.

Extra life:
Successfully complete a level without getting hit to get an extra life.

View end sequence:
Press I, Left, Right, Left, Right, I at the title screen. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Hold Down and press Run to view the ending sequence.

Sound test, Boss preview:
Hold Up + Select + I + II as the game loads.

Debug mode:
Highlight the center item on the title screen. Hold Select, then hold Run. Keep both buttons held until game play begins. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Move to the right of the starting location to locate a group of signs. The lower three rows will transport your character to various parts of the game. The first three items on the upper row are game hints. The eight signs in the second section of the upper row have the following functions.

Ristar Cheat Codes

View animated sequences:
Press Down/Left + I + II + Select at the first copyright screen (black with dates listed). Use Up and Down to select a sequence and I to view.

View System 3 warning:
Press Run to load the game, then hold Select + Run.

Debug mode:
Press Up, Up, Down, Down, Right, Left, Right, Left, II, I at the title screen. Select the "Visual" option to view the animation sequences or the "Music" sequences to hear the songs.

Debug mode:
Hold Select + Down + II and press Run, Run at the title screen.

View animated sequences:
Save the game at least one time. Highlight the "Continue" option on the title screen, hold Up, and press Run. Alternatively, hold Select + Down + II and press Run, Run at the title screen.

Sound test:
Press I, II or the D-pad after the ending. Move the pointer while pressing I to listen to the game music while using a non-SCD system card.

Fakyl power-up:
Select Lightning for Fakyl's Magic during the action stage. Then, enable rapid fire and hold Right, Left, Up and press I + II.

Debug mode:
Hold Down + Select + I + II and press Run at the title screen.

Fight as Ryo in versus mode:
Hold Down + Select on controller two as the game loads, then press Run on controller one at the title screen. Press Run again after highlighting human vs. human mode. Ryo may now be selected.

Debug mode:
Press Up three times, Down three times, II three times, I three times during the opening sequence.
